Hill, of ~ Auckland,-by's yards in tho 1000 yards , invitation race, in the' time of Sriiin. 20 2-ssec.. This beats' the New Zealand record of 2min. 24 l-ssec., and is more meritorious than tho figures suggest by ' reason of the fact that the track ivas ' wet, as the result of heavy rain on Friday night and Saturday morning.
