POLLING HEMS IN Slim OPPOSITION SCORES FIRST BLOOD. CROWDS WAITM6 IPS (Mil. ■ A "HARD-FOUGHT CAIMGN. The first day's polling results are coming slowly to hand trom breafc Britain, and of the 670 scats in the House of Com- ' mons, a total of 122 have now been filled. The Liberals have 56 seats to their credit and the Nationalists 4, making a total of 60 Government supporters so far returned. ihe Unionists have, on the other hand, secured 62 seats, and thus lead on the first day's results by two seats. Below/is set out the polling in 35 constituencies, all so faf to hand, in detail. From these it will be seen that the Liberals nave gained four new seats, and the. Union&ts seven. The unopposed returns number 18, an increase of 8 over the January figures, when only 10 seats were ndfc contested.
