Floods are menacing- tho villages near St. Etienue, on tho Rhone. At. Nantes, on the Loiro, 7000 workers and hundreds of families, aro . homeless. The railways are submerged around Orleans. Tho bursting of a dam at Montjean, forty miles up the Loire from Nantes, submerged the neighbourhood to a dopth of six feet. Tho Chamber of Deputies has voted £6000 for the relief of the destitute. THREE TOWNS UNDER WATER. Paris, December 2. All the riverp in the Brest district have overflowed. ' 7 The towns of Morlaix, Guingamp, and Lannion are flooded., SEA RECEDES THREE MILES. In consequence of a violent gale in tbe • Sea of Azof, (which is very shallow, tho dopth averaging from threo to ten feet., ; and not exceeding 40ft), tho water receded- for a distance of three miles. ' .• A number-, of ships were stranded, and their crcws wero unable to land, • remaining isolated and foodless. 3 Many fishing boats were wrecked, and houses were washed away. ENGLISH RIVERS RISE.
