Cook Islands was for additional medical service. On receiving an affirmative reply from tho Hon. J. Carroll, ho weniT an to ask what the Minister proposedto do about tho uneasy feeling whicj appeared to exist in connection with t-ba [slands. He urged that tho Minister should himself visit- the Cook Islands, 3r send a responsible officer during tho recess.' It was impossible to-properly idminister the Islands without personal niowledgo of -the local conditions. , t Mr. Newman (Manawatu) supported ;his -suggestion. . . . Mr. Glover (Auckland Central) also i-hought the Minister should visit the Islands. He would go with the Minister f ho could spare the time. A good leal of tho present friction would ba ;wept away if the Minister went down. Mr. Wright (Wellington South) said io understood an application had been ixieived. from a woman doctor who had -. xeellent credentials and would like to;o down to the' Islands. The Hon. J. Carroll said he would ;o down to the Islands himself, or send , responsible officer. He would careully consider all tile applications for he positions of medical officers. '
