THE CORONATION.
A "FISHING EXPEDITION" IN THE COUNCIL. Tho Hon. J. E. Jenkinson, apparently tired of waiting, for an announcement by tho Government as to tho arrangements in regard to the Coronation and Imperial Conference, embarked on a "fishing expedition" in the Legislative Council yesterday. Mr. Jenkinson remarkod that . tho Federal • Government had-taken steps to see that the Commonwealth was to be properly, represented. Had the Government, he asked the 'Attorney-General, taken any steps regarding tho representation of New Zealand ? The Coronation was, he urged, an occasion 011 which. New Zealand should be fully represented, and the sooner the Government' mado np its mind as to, the. number of members to bo sent tho better. At tho present juncture ho thought New Zealand should not -send less than, say, eight members of. tho Houso of Representatives, and four from the Council. Tho cost of sending twelve men Home would not be above £2000 or £2500. Ho added, laughingly, that ho would not be ablo to go himself, and so.his question was quito disinterested. He .' hoped the Government would-not • show any fear as 'to what the people would say. Tho people would, ho was sure, endorse 'his suggestion. Just before tho dinner adjournment tho Attorney-General said ho would give a reply in tho evening, but as no reply was forthcoming, Dr. Findlay apparently forgot-.
