STATEMENT BY LORD FURNESS. By Telegraph—Press; Association—CopyriEhi London, December 1. In a speech at West Hartlepool, Lor Furnoss stated that his. understood Mi Asquith was preparing what he believe to bo a fair and honourable solutio of tho shipyard question. "Either the Employers' Federatio will accept tlio solution," Lord Fumes continued, "or the lock-out sh'all end otherwiso the shipbuilding industr must choose between mo and tho Fedoi ation." THE FEDERATION REPLIES.(Rec. December 2, 9.40; p.m.) London, December 2. The Employers' Federation has adoped a resolution condemning Lord Fui noss's statement, which it is complaine was mado at a political meeting an without any seeking for anthoritativ information. Writing of the position in tho shi] yards' dispute just before the last ma loft London, a correspondent of tl: 'Manchester Guardian" said:—"Tho ten per of the men is of high 6uspicioi The original agreement, they complaii works entirely in the interest of tho en ployers. They did not like it when thf saw it, and they voted against it twic Experience has deepened their dislilc They want nothing added to it, an though they are faced-with a cessatic of lock-out pay, they talk grimly of ni giving in. There is a dogged couras ill their resolve which awakens pityii admiration, for one feels that they k'no they cannot win, and that further r sistance' will only' add to tho sufferinj of their l families. Tliero is no coi plaining against the executive, thoug one man expressed the opinion' that they had been better informed by the leaders the result of tlie ballot wou! have been different. What will happt next cannot bo said."
