The finances of tho board ro' in a ,slightly better .position than hey -jretp on. tho corresponding date £ the preS'ioiis year,- when tho net und's available' amounted to £1632 17s. ■A -report' was "received from tho re- ' Paliiters'. and Dccorit'ors'"'Board'* of Control,* -setting forth mggestions-for tho instruction of pu)ils°at the Technical School in gramng, marbling, etc. On' the recomnenclation. of the Board of Control, Mr. 3. Roberts; soil., was appointed instructor iii graining and marbling at a remuneration :of £40, per annum, for two nights weekly. ■ • In connection with the cookery classes It tlie 'school, Mr. Allan ■ raised- the question of- instructional courses for males. ' It was pointed ut that such mstruction would bo of material benclil W thoso. intending. to qualify for-suet lositions as hotel cbe.fs and sea-cooks. The director stated that ono or two o the-male students were at present at tending tho cookery classes, hut if do finite courses were provided for males it was quito possible that they wouh attract a considerable number. • It was agreed that tho director shout communicate witli, the Marino Depart ment and the Cooks and Waiters ■Onion with tho purposo of asccTtaimn to what extent assistance might bo forth coming from these quarters in coivnec -tion with tho establishment m th« classes. ,
