THIRD INTERIM REPORT OF THE ROYAL COMMISSION ON TUBERCULOSIS (GREAT BRITAIN).

POINTS OF INTEREST TO HEALTH AUTHORITIES. The third Interim Report of the Royal Commission appointed by tho British Government to inquire into the relations of Human and Animal Tuberculosis has just been" issued, and tho findings thereof provido food for gravo thought to those responsible for tho preservation of Public Health. ' Extensive and exhaustive experiments extending over a series of years were conducted, and tho fact established beyond tho possibility of a doubt that tho spread of Tuberculosis, or Consumption, among human beings is largely duo to tho prcsenco of this dreaded plague in tho dairy herds of the country, not merely by bacteria contained in tho milk alone, but from the fact that largo numbers o£ active bacilli aro daily passc.d into tho faeces by cows affected with Tuberculosis, even so slightly to escape tho notice of the. most experienced herdsman. The dangers arising from this are great, inasmuch as when tho faeces become dry—as some portions of it assuredly will—it gets disturbed throughout tho air of tho cowhouso in tho form of dust, such dust being thrown up by tho movements of tho cattlo themselves and their attendants, and consequently mhaled; thus the disease is spread, not only from ono animal to another, but to those attending them as well. It is, therefore, the moral duty of every cow-keeper to take the necessary steps to stop the spread of this terrible plaguo so far as it lies in his power to do so. All milk sold should ho sterilised, and ovcry cowhouso and cattloyard should be disinfected daily with somo guaranteed germ destroyer. In this connection, it is claimed that tho new disinfectant, Quibell's Itorol, is at onco the most powerful and "eKooDest earinicide to use.*
