In'connection with'tho Ashlraist Racing Club's meeting, owners are given a final reminder that nominations for all . , events and final payments' for the Ash- .. hurst Guineas close to-night with tho' secretary, Mr. A. W. Trass. The telei . graph oflree closes to-night at 8 o'clock. Nominations for the Wairarapa Raoing. Club's summer meeting close nest -Friday. • Considering the present state of the tracks and the amount of racing -which • piost of the contestants have undergone, ' ."ibe acceptances received by the Wood--1 r eillo Jockey Club must be regarded as more than "satisfactory. .The 'Hunterville sportsman, who races tender the name of "Timi Puru," ; who owns The Ijfativo and Irish Rifle'; intended .giving both horses a run at iWoodville, but lie missed' tie acceptances. In view of the running of "the first-named horse .in open company at Feilding, owners of hack hurdlers at iWoodville would be highly jileased at - jtho. non-acceptance of. the WSrry geld- ( ing. . ~ . •- The' Native must be a wonderful horse So carry'lost.' : l3lb. and'win th'o"Feild-' ting Hurdles on Thursday in 3min. 16sec. Xhe writer-does not remember a bet- ■ iter gallop than this, excepting that of Ataahua, who carried a stone less, and ran the distance in a second better, and 'Black Reynard's performance over sis hurdles. Twelve months ago Tho Native was running out on, a station, a lean gelding that one would not look at a second time. His pwiier got him ■ in; and. raced liim at Karioi. He put up such a good performance, considering his condition that bis owner decided to give him a chance, and, since then, ho has. won five hurdle.races and-two flat races. . His successful efforts over fences have all been achieved l with E. Murtagh in the saddle. The Hutt , horseman is one of the best hurdle ,rid- . ers in.the country-at the present time, and he rides with a lot of judgment. New Zealand was never so badly off. ifor hurdle riders, as now, and the iieally capable ones could be counted on the fingers of one hand. ■ That gay deceiver Master Laddo was again backed, and badly beaten at 'T?ilding. The chestnut colt had every • chance to win, getting out well, and ' • . • having an' uninterrupted run, and the only'reason for his failure is that he will not do his best. • . . . Weights for the Manawatu Cup are jdue on Friday. There is no doubt that Waikaraka ; was unlucky in not figuring among the 10r£es in the Second Hurdles at , Beilding, as he was going well when he bumped Young out of the saddle. The hitherto, disappointing chestnut looks..like being an early winner. Sharpshooter appeared to have lightened off since racing at Riccarton. He :ian in a veVy .tired manner at tho tail of his field on both days at Feilding. At the Epsom meeting, Melbourne, '«n November 23, tho. New Zealand jockey, R. Cameron, Todo three winners during the afternoon, and was just beaten 'by a neck in a fourth race. Kopu is under orders for Auckland, 60. that ho may get used to the righthanded going at Ellerslie before tho • Auckland Cup comes up for decision. • Mr. Middlcton Melroso, 'whoso horses ■have been racing in Melbourne for tho past couple of .months, met with further success at tine Epsom meeting on - . November 23 and 24, when Advautago •' won the Epsom Welter, six furlongs, , ' and Masonic provailed in tho Epsom ■ Handicap. Both the Now Zealand horses started at satisfactory prices. Jockey C. Brown was fined £1 on the second day of tho Takapuua Jockey Club's meeting for not fulfilling a riding engagement. _ At tho same meeting, S. Lindsay, rider of Mistimo, lodg- - ed a complaint against'Whittaker, rider of Mighty Atom,_ for alleged intcrference. Consideration of tho complaint was held over. RACING FIXTURES.
