(Prom Our Special Correspondent.) Itr. J. Wakeham. J .P., of Petone, left resterday on a holiday visit to BiinnyWpe. By way of accumulating funds to erect i place of worship at Koro Koro, the llnglican parishioners of Potono and Koro Koro held a salo of work in St. iugusiino's Hall yesterday afternoon, i'he beautiful weather attracted a. largo number of people. Mrs. Wallis- (of Bishopscourt,. Wellington),. iu' opening tho proceedings, congratulated the workers on their splendid effort, and on getting together -such useful and ealeablo articles. Mr. Wallis then, wished tho sale overy success. Although the attendance was not what was. expected, the business transacted made up the deficiency. The following is a list of the stallholders:—Fancy goods: Misses Heron and Bebington; plain stall: Mrs. Neill; produce stall: Mrs. Yeatos; sweets: Mrs. Harrison; refreshments: Mesdanies Horon, ltyan, Kodgers, and several assistants. Tho committee of Petono citizens act iug it connection with tho Heretaunga Boating Club, for the purpose of holding an aquatic carnival on Petono's water front, on New Year's Day, met last night. Mr. J. W. MTiwan presided, and there was a good attendance. A suggestion froni tho secretary (Mr* M'Donald), to the effect that a "social" should ho held shortly, and that the prico of admission be either a trophy or a donation for prizes for the children's races, was adopted. It was announced that the Minister for Defence was considering the committee's proposal for a marino . explosion in connection with the carnival.
