ACCOUNTANT STUDENTS' SOCIETY.

Mr. H. C. Tewslcy presided at the eighth annual meeting of tho Wellington Accountant Students' Society, held m the Chamber of Commerce last evening, .the annual renort stated that the membership now "stood at 128, an increase of eight for the year. Ten meetings had been held during tho year, at which the attendance had averaged 30. Tho essay competition, for prizes offered by the Incorporated Institute of Accountants, had been awarded as follows:—First, Mr. A. Seaman; second, Mr. F. A. Barclay; third, Mr. A. Hore. The subject lor competition was "Goodwill; its Nature and Treatment in Books and Accounts. ■ The institute had intimated its intention of giving prizes next -year. Tho statement of finances of tho society showed an excess of income over expenditure of .£9 Is. id., and the Library Fund showed a credit balance of .C3O 19s. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Mr. W. B. Hudson, F.1.A., N.Z., was elected president for tho ensuing year, Mr. Towslev, through pressure of business, being nnsblo to offer himself for reelection.
