On the.motion of the Prime Minister, Messrs. Eraser, Reed, and the mover were appointed. managers to, attend a conference with the managers from the Upper House. ~
MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS BILL. Attorney-General intends moving the .following new clauses when tho Municipal Corporations Amendment Bill in ' tte. Legislative CounLicenses granted under by-laws mado pursuant to Section 139 of the Public Works Act, .1908 (dealing- with by-laws as to use of-roads), by the council of any of the cities of Auckland, Welling-' ton, Chnstchurch,-or Uunedin, shall extend and be available, not only within the. city, but also within .tho district of every locaV authority any part, of which is-within fa-re miles of any part of the boundary of .that city,-and the fees payable in respect of those, licenses .shall be apportioned among the several local •vufhorrhes. within whoso district the license is so available. The Governor may. by Order-m-Council, made on -the ?$w rt n "1 an r- borough, council (other than those - concerned under the preceding provisions of this section), direct that this section shall extend and apply to that borough and the districts of every local authority, any part of which is within five miles of any part of the boundaries of that borough, and every such order shall have effect according to its tenor. '
