' George Gray,-the Australian. billiard player, has commenced a match at Sheffield against Nelson, who in a game of 4500 up isreceiving'lsoo. The scores at present are:—Nelson 1730, Gray 1501... -■_.■■ . The "Sportsman," while exonerating Gray personally, regards his challenges as a discreditable booming of himself at tho expense of English players. "Gray is always, welcome," says the paper, "but we advise him next time he comes to do so as an independent player." (Rec. November 28, 0.40 a.m.) London, November 27. Gray has made 3000, in his match with Nelson, including a break of 940, of which 933 were off the red.' Nelson's score is 2144.
