EMPIRE MUSICAL FESTIVALS
Mr. Hugo Gorlitz, Dr. Chas. Harriss's representative, has arrived from his tour of the Mariborough district, where ho made the necessary arrangements for intending visitors to the Empire Festival to bo held in the Town Hall, Wellington, on June 29 1 and 30 and July 1, 1911. As tho festival falls exactly on the days of the Coronation festivities in England, Dr. Harriss" decided to give at tho matinee on Saturday, July 1, the identical Coronation programme, which ho is to conduct before he starts for New Zealand. Before leaving for Canada, where Dr. Harriss is now completing arrangements, he made tho following engagements with leading soloists to accompany the Sheffield Choir around tho world:—Sopranos: Lady Norah Wool (Lord Gainsborough's daughter) and Miss Jennie Taggart. Contralto: Miss Gertrude Lonsdalo (a former pupil of Mr. Spencer Lorraine). Tenors: Messrs. Henry Turnpenny and Wilfred Virgo. Baritono: Jlr. Eobert Charlesworth. liass: Mr. Robert Chignell. Other engagements aro pending.
