:■ SPORT WITH THE RIFLE, . GARRISON SHIELD COMPETITION. The- secand round of the Garrison Teams' Shield Competition was firidat Trentham on Saturday,, afternoon, in fine weather. .A tricky right wind prevailed, whioh required some judicious' studying at the lunger-ranges,'but the results show that the shbotists who used their brains were not prevented by the vagar, ies of the zephyrs from putting on some very good scores. ' In the senior competition the Highlanders, with an, aggregate- score of 908, B2c'ured three points; the Guards, with 805, two points; and the City Rifles, with 879, ono point. The Hutt Valley Rifles again headed the list in.the junior round, securing three points, with an aggregate of 879; the College Rifles were the ; rnnners-up with 851, securing two points, and Victoria College (A team) one' point, with an aggregate of 845. No. 3 Company of the Wellington Garrison Artillery fired into place among the third class teams, with 772—three points; Dominion Scouts. 725, two points; and Victoria, College (B team), 627, ono point. With the final match to to fired (on December 17 next), the position' of , the 'senior teams points to a. close contest between the Guards and the Highlanders —the other three "may safely be reparded as having no hope. On pointsthree for the leading team in each round, two for the second, and ono for third—the position. to date is as follows:— . . ' Match. Match Total No. 1 No. 2 Points.
