Henry, founder and secretary of tho Royal Life Saving • Society, returned to Wellington yesterday from a tour of the South Island, where he conducted life-saving examinations I at Cliristchurch and Dunedin. In the former town 137 awards ivero made. Two ladies gained tho award of merit and- six men. A diploma was granted to Mr. G. E. Billson. • At Duncdjn forty-four awards were made. Two entrants gained tho bronzo medallion, and both also became entitled to tho award of merit. In all, Mr. Henry lias made over 500 awards during his tour of the Dominion. In Hawkc's Bay awards totalled S3, in Wanganui 120, in Auckland 14, and in Wellington 59. Mr. Henry states that a great majority of .those who have passed as proficient acquired their knowledge of life-saving methods from tlie hand-book issued by the society, and without the .assistance «f a tutor.
