A .woman, named Nina Wells somo tim& ago visited-different ■; of the--city; selling , a hair restorer, - which she-'al-- •• leged would cure certain defects, and produced. desirable changes in ,tlie colour:, of •P®o hair. Her sales were assisted, some- ' what, by a. statement which she made> to purchasers that if 'they allowed. . their, names to' be used. as buvers. of tho .pre-' paration they would-later receive a. sum ' of two guineas. • / 1 ' Business was-brisk,-and prospects of a successful run for the restorer werir bright, until one day a portion of .the preparation was analysed by. a chemist, with the result that it was shown .that: the restorer was merely whiting, widthatl the true valuo of a" se. "packetwas about: one-sixteenth- .of- a penny. Tho woman/ , was charged with 'false . pretences, and was fined £o, with the alternative of im-* > prisonment for one month.
