DROWNING AT PETONE.

Dr. Harding stated that ' the man had been dead about half an •''tour. Deceased is apparently a stranger to Petorie, as he was not identified, and no. one knew anything about him, but 1 ■ from articles found in his clothes it appeared that he is a recent arrival from : ■ Carterton'. There was a nieuio. from William Howard Burt, Carterton, addressed to Cane's Hoardinghou'se, which "may throw some, light on the matter of ..identity, and also a white handkerchief, .'.with a blue border and the name George lluirir written in one corner. • .
