The Westland and Nelson Native Reserves Amendment Bill provides that, where a lessee and the Public Trustee do not agree on a [ question of valuation at the. expiry of a lease' the values shall be taken to 'bo those on tho district valuation roll in force wlien the lease expires, and the rent payable on the renewed lease shall be .£5 per. cent, per annum on the unimproved value of the land included in the lease. Tho Public Trustee may sell to a lessee land leased for religious or educational purposes at no less than the unimproved value of the land. A proviso to this clause is to the effect that before sale the Public Trustee must be satisfied that the land will continue- to be used for such' purposes and not for gain. Power is' proposed to be • given to sell the Grey--month Native Reserve with the consent of tho beneficiaries. The resolution to, sell .shall bo deemed to be carried if the owners who vote in favour of tile resolution own a larger aggregate sharo of the land affected, than the owners who. do not vote in favour of the resolution. The purchase money shall be such sum as may be agreed upon by the Public Trustee and the purchasers, but shall be not less than the unimproved value on tho valuation roll. All moneys from the sale shall lie paid into a common fund, and the Public' Trustee shall pay tho income to the henciiriarics in tha same shares as in the case of the rents prior to the .sale. Any portion of the moneys may bo used for the purpose of purchasing other lands for the occupation- of any of the beneficiaries. - MOTOR-CAES FOR EARLY DELIVERY.
