The disappearaneo of these documents has lod to mutual accusations by, tho City Council and the Petone Borough Council, each denying that it is responsible for tho disappearance of the plans or for the delay in forming the approaches that has followed on that disappearance. Replying yesterday to a statement made oil: tho previous dny.by the Wellington Town Clerk, Mr. J. IV. M'Ewan, Mayor of Petone, said tho position was still absolutely inexplicable so far as Petona was concerned. Abont a week previously Mr. Palmer had written, asking for plans of the approaches. He now submitted, Sir. M'Ewan stated, that the pUns were supplied ovor twelve months ago. The Pctor.e Borough Engineer, Town Clerk, and Borough Solicitor all said they did not know where the plans-wero if they had left tho City Council's possession. Still, Mr. M'Ewan continued, his council, while not going back on previous statements, would, in order to facilitate matters, prepare from eight to ten additional copies of the mnch-discussed plans; This, however, was no admission of culpability on tho part of Petone.' The boro.ngh disavowed responsibility since tho plans in question had left its office some twelve months previously;
