— : —o- ' ' The annual meeting of the council of the New Zealand Institute of Architects iv-as held at the Chamber of 'Commerce on Wednesday, Mr. C. J. JXountfort, president of the institute,' in the chair. There were present the following representatives of i district' branches:—Auckland: Messrs. Wade, Mahoney,. and G'oldsbury. Wellington: Messrs. Charlesworth, Chatfield, Schwartz, Chrichton, Baeou, Lawrence, Clere (hon. treasurer), and Atkins (hon. secretary). Canterbury: Mr. Mount-, fort. Otago: Messrs. Davey, Petre, and Walden. Southland: Mr. Brodrick. Mr. Beauchamp-Plntts, secretary of tho New Zealand Institute was also present. The business of the meeting, which was not a very lengthy one, was mainly of routine character. General satisfaction was expressed with the progress r.f the institute. The education of students, one of the main facts of interest to the institute, was nlso discussed. The following officers were, elected for tho ensuing year:—President, Mr. Brodrick (Southland); secretary, Mr. Atkins (Wellington); treasurer, Mr. Clere (Wellington); auditors, Messrs. Badham and Biss (Wellington). The visiting representatives will be entertained at dinner bv the Wellington branch at tho Grand Hotel (his evening.
