The principal business will be consideration of tho demands made by tramway employees for a Dominion awardYesterday morning at 10 o'clock' his Excellency tho Governor, attended .by Captain Scott, A.D.C., returned tho official call of tho Admiral of tho Australian Squadron by a visit to the 1 Powerful. Lord Islington was ' accorded tho customary vice-regal saluto from tho flagship. The Leicestershire Society held a pleasant reunion in Mawson's Rooms. Cuba Street, on Tuesday evening, when Mr. ,T. Kabbitt presided over a good attendance. During the evening an attractivo programme of songs and recitations, contri-, buted by members,,was appreciatively received. The Leicestershire Society, although it' has been established for only about four months, is increasing its membership at an encouraging rale. It is hoped that it will shortly vie in import- ! anco with any kindred organisation existing in Wellington. Membership' is entirely restricted to natives of Leicestershire. and in addition to holding social reunions on tho fourth 'fnosday of 'every month, tho society is intended to provide assistance, should the need arise, for any of its members who may encounter misfortune.
