MAKARA COUNTY COUNCIL.

" 'ANNUAL MEETING. The annual statutory meeting of the Maknrav County Council, hel'd at noon> yesterday it-as attended by Councillors. F. T. Moore, Haggerty, Bryant, Eastwood, Monk, and Hawkins. Councillor Monk briefly thanked the. council for having elected him as chairman. . . Councillor' Moore expressed gratitude for' the support given him by councillors during his term of office. A voto of thanks was unanimously - acoorded to Councillor Moore for the con- • scientious manner in which he had car-' ried out tho duties of chairman and for the consideration ho had'shown to each councillor.' It was agreed that as hitherto tho whole council should be a Works Committee and a Finance Committee. The matter of traffic control on the Ngahauranga Gorge Road was considered at a special meeting. It was agreed that Messrs. Mace and Nicholson be allowed to run a motor wagon, free, between their quarry, (in the Johnsonville district near, the boundary) and Ngaliauranga. A condition was imposed that -the firm should keep in repair every bridge, half-bridge, and cul-. vert damaged by tho wagon.
