The chairman of the Bank of NewSouth Wales,. at. the half-yearly meeting yesterday, stilted that the , advances chieily consisted of small and moderate ndvances to. settlers, who were gradually filling up the farm lands through Australia and -New Zealand. Referring to the Federal land t.i-r, he said its discriminating character l'ad raised some economic questions, which might havo important issues with respect t to landed properties, all round which ;:t present- were not forsecn. Panics would como under the highest. scale of the tax in regard to even their smallest branches. This did not seem quite leasonable.
