' NOTES AND COMMENTS. [Br GtENCOF..] The reported sale of. Swimming Bolt, has apparently not taken place, as this hnndsomo black horse is still at Porirua, Diabolo was a trifle sore after returning fvom his nrduous Kiccarton campaign, and, on that account, ho has done little or nothing since returning to Porirua. That useful little mare Sea Elf got anything but a good run in the Oitr Handicap at Ellerslie, where the big field hampered her considerably. It is expected that she will do much better at Tnkapnna on Saturday next, as she will be more at home round the saucertrack than will many of tho others.

Judging by the price quoted about him, there would appear to be very little chance • of Master Soult seeing -the post in the Auckland Cup.

It is interesting to note that, in the past, horses which have shown up well in the New Zealand Cup have afterwards gone north, and won the Auckland Cup. Sfahutonga and Wairilci were cases iu point.

- There will bo racing at Tiinaru tomorrow and Thursday. The form shown nt Eiccarton will probably be .found to work out v.ell at Tiinaru.

The manner in which a well-backed candidate performed in the principal event at Bannevirko will probably be the means of sending him out at a very cramped price when ■ next he faces the starter. . ■ .

.It is stated that- in future the Melbourne Cup winner,, 'Comedy King, will run in weight-fdr-age'events only.

Provocation has recovered from his cold, and is a likely starter in tho Feilding .Stakes- next week. If really w«ll, Mr. Bidwill's. champion.should not have ■much difficulty in making a race of it against the lot • opposed •to him in the w.f.a. event. .- -. • : ;

Since the declaration of weights for the first day's events at the Eeilding Jocksy Club's meeting, Sleacombe has won a hurdle race, and- will carry a 101b. penalty, in. the Spring, Hurdles, as will also AVaterworks in the' Waitnna. Hack Hurdles, Jlarton in the Kiwitea Welier, Moree in the Fitzroj"-Hack Flying, Gold Battery in the Flying Stakes, and Tina Toa in-the Kiwitea Welter.

The New Plymouth trainer, H. Eva, will have four horses at the Feilding meeting, namely, Plantation, Miss Advance, Uhlando, and Tetikura. The last-named is a full-brother to Miss Advance.

Percy Moore, a well-known Australian horseman, is coming to New Zealand, and will probably be" associated -with D. Moraghan's stable at Auckland.

'V half-brother (by Patrouus) to Mendip is now in work at New Plymouth.

Nyland will not ho a runner in. the Railway Handicap at the Auckland meeting. He is still running in the paddock, and may not he placed in work again until after Christmas.

G. Price's team for the Feilding meeting next week will include Polymorphous, Allurement, and Kilostere. The first-, named will start in the Feilding Stakes if all goes well with him in the meantime, and he will, as usual, be ridden by A. Oliver.

The Auckland hurdle horse, Black Northern, has started in five .races this season. He fell in one race,, and won the other four.

Horses that are going ■ well on .the tracks at Awapuni are Gladiole, San Lass, and Belle Amie. ■ The first-named ought to get on the. winning list Ijefore very long. ■~.'"

The Birkcnhead mare, Hermia, is now in work again, and will probably bo, well enough to compete at the Feilding meeting next week.

Dissatisfaction is expressed by owners and trainers of horses engaged in the Feilding Stakes at the non-publication of the final payments for that race. The payment was due when the acceptances for the handicap events closeU on Friday. It is believed that there will be about six or seven runners, and the number will probably include Polymorphous, Provocation, Gipsy Belle, and Hermia. Most of the horses will have penalties to carry, and even Polymorphous .has 3 extra, though he has not won a race this season. Penalties have to be shouldered for races won since March last.
