Hughes, Acting-Priiue Minister, has received from the Canadian Government a cable message regretting that the Commonwealth is unable to accept the route for the Vancouver mail service suggested by Canada, namely, from Vancouver to Sydney, with Auckland as a port of call. The message adds that Canada favours the inclusion of a New Zealand port, but is willing that a call should he made at, another port. • In view of the impasso thus reached, it has been decided to await the arrival in Australia o£ Sir James Mills, managing director of the _ Union Company.
