There is apparently no lack of employment for navvies at the present time. Mr. T. Proctor, who is temporarily in charge of tho Labour Department employment bureau, told a reporter - on Saturday that ho is experiencing the utmost difficulty in obtaining co-opcrativo workers who aro required on tho Mann railway works in tlra Nelson district. About thirty men are required, and during tho past fortnight only fivo lrnvo offered their services. Those have not yet gone to the works, as it is proposed to send tho men ovor in gangs of seven. A condition is made that theso workers must bo married men or single men supporting relatives. Harried men aro required to sign a half-pay agreement, under which onehalf of their earnings is paid to their wives. These conditions the Departmental .official considers reasonable, and ho declares himself at a loss to explain tho absence of applicants. A few navvies havo been sent. lately to local works. Tho man astride an F.N. 2J h.p. Light Weight Motor Cycle can skim along, up hill, nnd down hill, with tho speed and ease of a swallow. Riding an F.N. Ie tho most sport imaginable; it is as safe and reliable as a bicycle, nnd almost as economical. You'll do your trip in half the timo and with twice the comfort on an F.N. Wholcsalo Agents: E.
