GRADING AT A GROWING PORT.
MINISTER'S "DOUCHE" AGAIN. (By Tclcßwi.-Special Correspondent.) Wanganui, November 19. The subject of establishing Wanganui as a grading port was again discussed by tho Wanganui Chamber this morning, members being very sore at the refusal of tho Premier and the Minister of culture to meet a deputation.on this and other subjects on Monday next. . Under tho circumstances, it was resolved to forward details by telegram. . . , . Tho .position now is that local dairy interests offer to pay JC2OO a year - towards tho grader's salary if the Government will appoint one. The chamber has been definitely informed that 1100 tons of dairy produco will for certain be shipped through Wauganui if it be mado a grading port, *-while there is also every likelihood of another 500 to 900 tons being so snipped later. This latter quantity is dependent on snch arrangements as are mado by tho country factories involved. ; The Eata dairy factory has decided to ■ ship its produce through Wanganui, if tho desired 6tate of things is brought about, while it is almost certain that the Mar--1 ton co-operative and Bulls factories will do tho. same.
