The; Featherston Horticultural and Industrial Society's spring show was held in' the Town Hall, Featherston, on Thursday afternoon,. tho show being, opened by Lord Islington. His Excellency was accompanied by the Hon. Joan DicksonPoynder and Captain Hamilton, and was met at the door by members of the society and passed up the hall through a guard of honour composed of Boy Scouts under Scoutmaster Wagley. As for tho show itself it was an unqualified success, and reflects credit on- the stewards and other officials of this enterprising society. The wonderful blooms that were exhibited .goes far to disprove the oftquoted reproach that it is "always blowing a howling gnle in Featherston." OTAKI. Judging' by rumours, the Otaki seat is likely to bo well contested at tho next Parliamentary election, and already the names of Messrs. Thompson (Palmerston North), Dallworthy (Auckland), J. C. Cooper (Pahiatua), and C. A. W. Monckton (Otaki) are mentioned as new candidates, while Mr. Byron Brown and tho sitting member, Mr. Field, will also seek support. Mrs. and Misses (2) Quill, who are at present touring the world, anticipate prolonging their holiday, and will not return to tho Dominion for some months. WOODVILLE., The only tender received 'by 'the 1 Borough Council for pipes was referred to Mr. Motcalf, who recommended the calling of fresh tenders.
