jR Garden Party.' Yesterday afternoon a garden party (was given at'"Awarua House" by Lady 'Ward, for the purpose of enabling (her friends to meet Mrs. Cyril Ward land her baby, who are at present her [guests. The grounds, with -their jelumps of rhododendrons in full flower, jtheir winding walks, and smoofli greeiJ lawns, are a delightful place in which jto spend a sunny afternoon, arid an additional pleasure was added by the presence of a string band provided by Miss (Ruby M'Donald. Tea was served upon a number of little tables placed upon ithe lawn, and decorated with most of ithe flowers in season, while' strawberries and cream were a delightfully cool -and refreshing addition. The baby was, of course,' a centre of attention, and greatly extended its circle of acquaintances during the afternoon. Lady AVard wore ungraceful dress of black minon over white silk; Mrs'. Cyril' Ward had" on' a braided heliotrope frock:and .black hat;' Miss E. Ward, a black and ■white frock; Mrs. Findlay ' was- in a ieliotrope costume. Among those present were Mrs. Wallis', Mrs. C.
