Wilford appeared for accuscd, who elected to bo dealt with, summarily, and pleaded not guilty. After part evidence had been given for tho. prosecution, the Chief Detective applied for a remand, in order to call another witness, whom ho now discovered would bo required. Accused was remanded until Mondaynqxt, bail being allowed in . £25 and ouo surety of £25. IMPROPER LANGUAGE. . A young man named Michael Laery pleaded guilty to a charge of using improper language on King's Wharf, and was fined 405., with costs lis., and solicitor's fee £1 Is., in default 14 days' imprisonment. Mr. H. O'Loary appeared for accused, and Mr. Smith for tho Wellington Harbour Board. Joseph Frederick William Holborno admitted making uso of bad languago in Frederick Street on October 26, and was sentenced to 21 days' imprisonment. Mr. A. Dunn appeared for accused. CRUELTY TO A HORSE. Harry Kirkers p(eaded guilty to cruelly ill-treating a horse by working it while it was suffering from sore shoulders. ■ He was. fined £4, with costs 7s.j in default 21 days' imprisonment

Joseph O'Hanlon, charged with i drunkenness, was declared to be a habitual inebriate, and was sentenced to a mouth's imprisonment, a prohibition order to issue against him. Charles King, for drunkenness, was fined 10s., in default 48 hours' imprisonment. Two first offending inebriates were fined 55., with the alternative of 24 hours' imprisonment, and another first offender, who. did not appear, was ordered to | forfeit his bail of 10s. Ada Curry, for whom Mr. P. J. o,'ltegan appeared, consented to' an Order to pay 2s. a week towards the support of each of her four. children in ah Industrial School from January 1 next. In the case against D. Oliver, for alleged assault on Pan Chok Kai on tho s.s. Vermont, there was no appearance of tho parties, and tho information was dismissed. .'
