LIVE STOCK SALES.
Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Tcport having hold their usual stock salo at Ongaonga oil November 18, when they offered a small yarding of sheep to a good attendanco of buyers. They realised tho following prices:—Four-tooth owes, 12s. lid.; ewes in wool, with 100 per cent, lambs, 175.; wether hoggets, in wool, 12s. 7d. A good lino of ewe hoggets, in wool, were passed in at 19s. 6d. Messrs; Dalgety and Oompany, Limited, report having held their fortnightly sale at their Upper Hutt yards yesterday, a good yarding of both .sheep and cattle bding submitted. There was not such a keen demand for young cattle as in previous salon, but other sorts and sheep met with good competition. The following prices were ' realised:—Two-tooth to f.f.m. ewes, with lambs, 17s. 6d.; aged ewes, with lambs, lis. 9d.; mixed hoggets, 14s. 3d.; cowb in milk, £5 to £8 176. 6d.; cows, close to profit, £4 ss. to £6 55.; cows (later calvers), £3 7s. to £3 12s. 6d.; heifers in milk, £5 to £6 125.: springing heifers, £5 2s. 6d.; eighteen-month Jersey heifers, £3 10s.; twoyear heifers, £3 55.; yearling heifers, £2 14s. 6d.:-calvce, 145.; Btore cowe, £3 165.; bulb, £3 12s. 6d. to . £5. Mos6ts. Dalgety and Co. report:—At tho Dannevirke sale yesterday 'there was a large entry of sheep, chiefly hoggets, ' of which wo yarded over 2000, and a good entry of cattle was al&o submitted. Tho attendance of buyers was good. In sheep prices showed- an advance, and all lines found purchasers. Tho demand for cattle was limited, except for dairy cattlo, although most linos changed hands. Good shorn mixed hoggets sold at from 12s. 9d. to 133.;. woolly hoggets, 13s. 6d.; ewes and lambs, 15s. Two-year empty dairy heifers sold at 765.. to 87s. 6d.; yearling to eight-een-months heifers, £2 10s. to £2 155.; eighteen-month 3 steers, £2 10s.; empty cows, £3; light beef coirs; £4 65.; yearling steers, £1 195.; bulls, £2 10s. to £5; heifers, in calf, £3. Tho Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd.,' report for tho week ending November 19, as follows:— At Feilding on Friday we had a, good entry of both sheep and cattle. Shfcep sold fairly well, and we' have to report a. total clearance. Cattle, however, . met with a dragging sale. We quote-.—Sheep: . Forward shorn ewes, 10s. 9d.; fat ewes, 135.; two-tooth shorn wethers, 10d.; woolly wothor hoggets, to 155.; ewes and lambs, 12g. 10d.; purebred Lincoln ewes, bred by Captain Hawes, 305.: cull rams, 6s. 6d. Mr. Newton King's weekly stock report io as follow:—At IJrenui on 31onday there was a good yarding, and bidding was brisk, especially for young cattle, every lino offered J>eing sold at the hammer. (By Tclccraph.—Special Correspondent.l Auckland, .November 18. At tho "WestJield fat stock market on, Wednesday, beef totalled 393 head. Competition was steady throughout, last week's advance being maintained. .Ox beef brought £1 3s. to £1 ss. 6d.,- and cow and heifer 193. to £1 4s. Steerft ranged in price from £7 2s. 6d. to £15 Ss.; cows and heifers, £4 to £9 10s. In consequence of the . short supply of calves, prices improved, heavy bringing £2 10s. to £2 -193.; choice snckcrs, £1 14s. to £2 55.; medium to light, 18s. to £1 10s.; small and freshdropped, ss. to 13s. -
There was a full entry of fat Bheep, but tho demand was limited. A few pone of extra prime wethers sold within Is. of last Quotations, but, taking tho sale on tho whole, there' was a drop of 3s. per hoad. Heavy primo wethers, shorn, realised 18s. 6d. to £1 Is.; medium, 15s. 9d. to 17s. 6d.; light and unfinished, 12s. 3d. to 15s. 6d.; best weighty ewes, Us. to 15s. 9d.; others, lis. 3d. to 13s. 6d. Of 1851 yarded,-1353 wero sold.
Tho 502 lambs penned met with a firm sale at fully late, figures, prime heavy senilis at 17s. 6d." to £1; medium, 14s. to 16s.' 6d.;- light, Us. to 13s. 6d. Although thcro was only an average yarding of pigs, the number was considerably in excess of requirements, and values wero tho lowest experienced for a long time. Heavy b'aooners were cleared at £2. 9s. to £2 155.; lighter, £2 to £2 75.; large porkers, £1 6s. to £1 135.; smaller, 17s. to £1. ss. Large stores sold at 10s. to 155.; weancrs, 7s. 6d. to Bs.
