• /"A GLANCE ALL ROUND. , SOME OF THE LEADING . AWARDS. (By Telegraph—Special Reporter.) Wanganui, November 16. The annual show-of the Wanganui Agricultural 'Association was commenced today: in "fine and sunny weather,, and there was. a.fair: attendance for an-op'ening day. The entries 1 of horses and sleep are less than.was the case'last year, but there is ' an .-increase in cattle! The full list of entries is as follows, the figures, for 1909 being -given in parentheses Horses, 307 (424); horse competitions, 132 (184); cattle, 18? (170); sheep, 208 (237); Angora goats, 3 (0); j>igs, 22 (22); dogs', 974 (787); home industries, 750 (729); school competitions, 214 (143); produce, 69 (75); grain, 4 (8); woo!,-15 (26); ales-and wines, 2 (0); totals, 2390 (2750). _ There was also a small exhibit of agricultural implements and machinery. Only a portion of .the'horse . section was'judged .to-day. The .entries in thoroughbreds : were not large, but that lis the case at . most' New Zealand shows, .xhe one-time, notable. turf performer, ■Maniapoto, entered in the name of Mr. H. Good, was the only aged entry competing, and the first prize was awarded to him..- Sir. G. P. Moore got a first with a. yearling colt by Kilcheran. In'coaehers, Mr. J.'H. Anderson's Britain's Pride . ijvas .the first prize stallion. ..' HORSES. THE ■ DRAUGHTS SECTION. Though the entries in draught horses ■were not large, the quality is creditable. 'Some of the pick, of Mr.: Ernest. Short's stiid. competed, and Mr. J. W. Harding, of. Waipulrurau, was well represented. The awards .were as follow.— Yearling colt entire—J. W. 'There was not . very strong competition in the sheep section, but the ([uality pleased the judges.' Mr. W. H. Wybourne took the prizes in Lincolns, Mr.-W. Gibson in Romney Marsh, Messrs. R. Bremer and S. R. Jjaneaster in English Leiccsters, and Mr. J. Douthwaite in Border L«icesters. Very pigs were penned. The class "was the Berkshires in which Mr. ff. Sellers was tho principal prize-winner.
