The Pioneer Lodge, No. 11, 1.0. G.T., held its weekly-meeting in tho Eechabite Chambers, Manners Street, on Monday evening, Bro. G. A. Pethcrick; C.T., presiding over a good attendance. . Arrangements wero made for Temperance , Sunday, 011 November 27. _ Sisters Robin-\ son provided an interesting programme," in the form of a "proverb" competition, which resulted in Bro. W. Weston, Star of Wellington, being the successful winner of a handsome, volume of Aew Zealand Verse." A very special item of tlio ; evening's proceedings was the ce ebration of Bro. Wm. Johnston's D.1.C.r., scv-enty-nintli birthday. Congratulatory nd-, dresses were made by Bro. G. Petlienck, Grand Secretary, Bro. lathers, Distiiet Secretary of-the Rechabites, Bro. 11. J. Millan, Assistant (jrand Secretary, Bros.. W -Ulan and C. S. Kelly. Sis. L. Eidiirds F Sec., and 0110 of the oldest members of the lodge,_ presented Bro. * Johnston with a fountain pen, on behalf of the. members of the Pioneer Lodge. ; Bro. W. Johnston, in thanking the members' for the kind congratulations,, gave a racy account of Good Templary in Wei-. lington, which showed it to have mado rapid progress. Refreshments were supplied liy the Harmony through Bvo. Johnston's generosity. _ Votes of thanks to Sis. Robinson and visitors were - carried by acclamation. .
