CONCERNING BOARD SCHOLARSHIPS. . ■ .. The Education Bill:was reported on yesterday by tho Education Committee of the legislative Counoil. Tho following provision has been made by the committee in respect- to scholarships :—"The board may, out of tho funds appropriated by Parliament for the purpose, establish Junior. Board Scholarships and Senior .Board, Scholarships, to. be open to all children who, on $e first day of Decomber nearest the (late of-tho examina-. tion, are resident in the district, havo been resident ia New Zealand for twelve months immediately preceding, and aro "j we .Pfewibod ago,, bein;?, in the case at Jnmor. ; J3oard .Scholarships, not jnore than fifteen wars.-.• Tho regulations may junior.scholarships shall be competed for by pupils from aphqols having not move than a.prescribed number ; in attendance,, 5,°,-W« *all hold any-such eoholai.attained , tho ago of nmeteep. vThis section: shall come into operation QR July .1, 19H, and-the Bill as a whole on January I."
