THE BEGINNING OF THE END. LOCAL BILLS. A Saturday morning sitting of the House of Representatives was held to deal with the local Bills. The extra sitting put a finish to a hard week's work, but members submitted cheerfully, with the knowledge that Saturday sittings indicate the beginning of the end of tho session. The House met at 10 a.m., when it was decided that opposed Bills should be set down at tho foot of the Order Paper. The following Bills were put through all stages and passed without opposition, or with minor amendments:— Nelson City, Drainage Loan and Empowering Bill (Mt. Graham). Templeton Domain Alteration of Boundaries Bill (Mr. Witty). Waiignnui Harbour Board Vesting Bill (Mr. Hogan). AVyudhaiu Show Ground Reserve Bill (Mr. Anderson). Invercargill Tramway Buildings and Works Site Bill (Mr. Hanan). Woodville Borough Drainago Empowering Bill (Mr. Ross). Greymouth Harbour Board Loans Consolidation Bill (Hon. Mr. Guinness). Thames Harbour Board Empowering Bill (Mr. E. H. Taylor). AVaitara Harbour Board and Borough Empowering Bill (Mr. Jennings). Waikouaiti County Council Reserve Vesting Bill (Mr. Clark). • Selwyn County Subdivision Bill (Mr. Witty). Borough of Hastings Electric Power and Loan Empowering Bill (Mr. Dillon). Horowhenua County Loan Bill (Mr. Field). Lyttelton Harbour Board Reclamation and Empowering Bill (Mr. Laurenson). New Plymouth Recreation wid Racecourse Reserve Leasing Amendment Bill (Mr. Okey). Waiapu County Council (Tokomaru Harbour) Empowering Bill (Mr. Macdonald). Havelock Harbour Board Amendment Bill (Mr. J. Duncan). The Napier Recreation Ground and Sir Donald M'Lean Memorial Park Bill was allowed to stand over until next sitting day, on account of the member in charge of the Bill, Mr. J. V. Brown, having been called away. A similar course was adopted in regard to-the "Wellington City Milk.Supply Bill, owing to the unavoidable absence of Mr. M'Laren through illness in his family. After a lengthy debate on the Otago Harbour Board Lauds Vesting Bill, bearing particularly on the position between the Harbour Board ' and the Drainage Board, further consideration of the Bill was postponed until "next sitting day." .When the R-oslyn Sewerage Bill .was called on, Mr. T. E. Taylor opened a debate on drainage systems, whereupon tho Prime Minister suggested that the debate should bo adjourned. This was agreed to, and the Honso:roso at 12.30 p.m., after the Prime Minister had introduced the Superannuation Amendment Bill, as reported in another column.
