THE WEATHER AND THE CROPS.

RAIN BADLY NEEDED. Much anxiety is felt by farmers in this district (writes our Masterton correspondent) concerning the cereal crop and foa-. der, owing to the continued dry weather. During the past week the heat has been excessive, and added to this westerly winds have assisted in parching the ground. In many parts the grass is withered up and crops almost destroyed. Unless rain falls soon tho outlook will be very serious. Thero has been a distinct fall in the milk supply, and water is becoming scarce.
