Henco she continues her voyago to Wellington via Weptr port, i and should ,show up at this port about tho end of next week. The Hinemoa will subsequently visit Cook Strait lighthouses, and, upon completion of her work there, will return to Wellington before proceeding on anothci* northern , lighthouse tour. MOANA, FOR SYDNEY. At an early hour yesterday morning the Moana arrived in port from Melbourne, via southern ports, on her way to Sydney with a large general cargo, and a quantity of cheese. This is the last visit which tho vessel will pay to Wellington for sorco time, as she Telievcs the Marama in tho Vancouver rnnning this time at Sydney. Sho continued her voyage last evening, taking with' her 140 passengers. GAZETTE NOTICE. The Lyttelton Harbour Board have notified thnt dredging operations will shortly be started in Lyttelton Harbour. NEW LIGHTER FOR THE NEW ZEALAND SHIPPING COMPANY. . A new _ steamer of 120 tons gross, now being built for tho New Zealand Shipping Company by Mr. O. Bailey, jun., at Auckland). is ncaring. completion, and is expected to bo ready for 'launching to-day week. Tho vessel, which is 107 ft. over all, 24ft. beam, and has a depth of. Bft., is schooner rigged on the pole-mast principle, j Sho will bo fitted with compound surface condensing engines, with cylinders Bin. and 18in. in damoter and lOin. stroke, nib engines and boiler are being supplied by Messrs. Geo. Fraacr and Sons, Auckland, while the refrigerating machinery will be installed' by Messrs. Niven and Co., Napier. It is intended to employ the steamer in lightering work at Tokomaru Bay in connection with the new freezing works there.
THE KINO MALCOLM BERTHS. . Yesterday, at 9.55 a.m., the Italian barque King Malcolm, which arrived from Marseilles on Thursday, berthed at tho Wool Wharf. The vessel comes into port in splendid trim, with everything clean and neat. Ab one man expressed it yesterday afternoon, "You could eat your meals off her decks, she's so clean. The limejuicer is as trim as any British snip could be." Yesterday afternoon, when a reporter visited tho barque, he found Captain Mortolo busily engaged signing various Customs forms, and seeing that he is not very eonvoreant with the English language, somo of tho methods adopted by both tho Customs officer and tho captain to understand each other, were ingenious. However, in a conversation, under difficulties, Captain Jtortolo said that he expected to be in port for about- six weeks, as ho had 329,790 tilca to discharge here. Upon completing dischargo the King Malcolm win leavo for Sydney with tho balance of her cargo. This consists of 4000 packages of marble, 505 pieces timber, nnd 410,<00 tiles. Leaving Dunedin at It a.m. to-day, tho Union Co.'s steamer Maitai commences her initial voyage to San Francisco in tho newly-established service. Tho vessel has been laid up at the companyV works, Port Chalinors, for tho last six weeks, undergoing extensive overhaul. This included tho building of well-appointed smoking-room on tho upper deck aft, and new 'tween decks liavo beo laid for the carriage of fruit. Special at-tent-ion has also been paid to the passenger accommodation in all three classes. Owing to 4 supposed block iii tho bilge (states the "Otago Daily Times"), water found its way into one of the holds of tho F.H.S. Lino's Morayshire at Duuediri. Some of the cargo in the hold was dainagea by the inflow, which was pumped out on Wednesday. A careful examination is being made. The cause of the block will .bo located, and repairs effected before the steamer leaves for the Bluff. Leaving Bunbury on November 2, tho steamer Snowdonian, 3870 tons, is bringing a- cargo of jarrah timber for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The vessel is due-lit tho northern port on or about Thursday next,, and at Wellingabout, a week later. -She has some 6G0.0C0 feet of timber for each, port from Millar's West Australian Hardwood' Company. The Flora will bo relieved by the Pukald this trip. The Pukaki is duo at Wellington on November 20, and sails again for Wc-rtport and the Grey on tho following day. '
