TRAMWAYS BILL. . When the House of Eepresentatives resumed its sittings yesterday, The Labour Bills Committee submitted its report on the Tramways Bill, which was placed on the Order Paper for consideration. LOCAL BODIES' LOANS, AMENDING BILL. PASSED. On the motion for the third reading of the Local Bodies' Loans Amendment Bill, Mr. MASSEY emphasised the unfairness of the Government compelling municipal bodies to invest in Government securities the sinking funds of loans not guaranteed by the State. The HUME. MINISTER said that in New Soutli Wales the sinking funds of such loans were required to be invested in State debentures. It was his view that an extra J per cent, should be charged.by tho Government to local bodies who wanted to invest their own sinking funds.. Ho would vote against any man who favoured the investment of such funds other than, in Government securities. The Bill wa3 then put through its final stages. DESTITUTE PERSONS BILL. . • Without discussion the Destitute Persons Bill was Tead a third time and passed. . : THE GAMING BILL. ; The House went into Committee on the Gaming Bill..
