Under .the auspices of the Wellington Theosophical Society, Mr. J. E. Thomson, organising secretary of the Ivew Zealand Section, delivered the first of a series of addresses on Theosophy, at the society's rooms, Ballance Street,, last evening. The speaker took for his eubjcct "The Ladder of- Life," and with the aid of diagrams traced a development or life throughout its successive stages in the solieme of evolution from the lowest to the highest. The address, which was in the nature of an introduction to a closer analysis of theoeophical doctrine, as indicated by the subjects.of the lectures to follow—"Lifo After Death," "The Secret of Happiness," and "Some Difficulties of the' Inner Life"—was followed with close attention throughout.
