MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
.(Before Mr. W. G. Eiddell, S.M.) At the sitting of the Magistrate's Court yesterday morning, Alexander .Boss, charged with drunkenness, was convicted and fined 10s., or in default 48 hours' imprisonment. Thomas Hickey pleaded guilty to being found drunk in Cambridge Terrace, and was fined 55., with the optica of 2i hours' imprisonment. Alfred Miners admitted using improper language outside the Police Station in Lambton Quay, and was penalised to the extent of £3, or 21 days in gaol. A police raid in North Street resuited in a number of persons being before the Court. Sarah Jamieson, charged with being drunk and procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order, incurred one month's imprisonment for tho first charge, and was declared an habitual drunkard. The second charge was dismissed. Tho same defendant, with James Jaraieson, Margaret Irving, and Annie M'Grath,'were'before the Court as idle and disorderly persons and consorting with undesirables. The last-named accused did not appear until the case had been dealt with, but all three were sentenced to three months' imprisonment. Each of the accused had long lists of convictions against them. Maud Francis pleaded "Not guilty" to the charge of keeping a disorderly house, and called as witnesses Annie M'Grath and Margaret Irving. Their ovidonce proved to be hostile to her case, and she was convicted and sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
