SERIOUS RIOTING IN WALES.
MINERS STONE POLICE. REGIMENT OF TROOPS HELD IN READINESS. BOILER FIRES EXTINGUISHED. By TeleErafili-Press Aseociation-Oopyrieht London, November 7. The miners at Clydach, Brecknockshire, Wales, prevented the engineers and stokers from working, and stoned the police. The situation is serious, and the Army Council has instructed the 18th Hussars to hold themselves in readiness if required. The strikers at Clydach Vale extin-guished-the boiler-fires and stopped the Ventilating fans'in, the feared that 300 horses are perishing in consequence, •• • UOLY RUSHES BY RIOTERS. THOUSANDS ON THE MARCH. (Rec. November 8, 10.55 p.m.) London, November 8. Women and girls participated in the stoning of the police at the Clydach valo pit. ' .There were several Ugly rushes, and' the mounted police were almost unhorsed. Subsequently the police were reinforced, and relit, the boiler fires, and! saved the horses. . Thousands of strikers marched to the Umbrian Combine's colliery in the Rhondda Valley. They were headed by twp. men wearing white shirts, and with halters round the hecks. Across the. breaots of these two men was the inscription, "Take warning!". The police guarding the colliery were overpowered,, and two of them were badly injured. The power station was captured by--the strikers subsequently, but the police, on being reinforced dislodged the nieii. The council of the South Wales Miners' Federation,. Mr. W. -Abraham, M.P., president, being in the chair, rejected the Aberdare deputation's proposal to convene a conference : of the whole federation to consider the best methods of assisting in the fight in order to secure the redress of the men's grievances. A discussion then followed on tho deputation's more drastic,proposal. for sti general,strike. This was -negatived. ■ The Council finally merely decided to ' submit the dispute to the Conciliation!
