THE QUEEN'S STATUE.
WHERE SHOULD IT BE LOCATED?
R-eferenoo. was made in the House of Representatives yesterday to the Queen's Statue, when Sir W. J. Steward gave notice to ask the Prime Minister whether seeing that the. stahio of the late Queen Victoria is to be. removed "from .fost Oiiice Square, the Government will endeavour to arrange .with the Wellington- City Council for its re-erection in parliament House grounds. Sir Wm. Steward remarks that it us suggested that a position in front of the new Parliament House, shortly to be erected, would be the most appropriate site for statue, and it may be pointed out that a similar statue is erected in front of the Parliament Buildings at Cape Town; and, also, that if erected in front ot the new chambers, as suggested, the statue is.less likely to be again disturbed than if any other site is selected
