CROYDON PREPARATORY SCHOOL.
ANNUAL SPORTS. On Saturday morning tlio annual sports of. 'tho Croydon Preparatory School were held on tho College Grounds, a. larj:e attcndanco of parents and friends bcii!2 present. It was an ideal spot on which to hold them, both from the spectators point of view and from .that of tho boys themselves, who, in their pretty green and white uniforms, added a distinctly decorative note to the scene. A great deal of interest is always taken in these sports, and no doubt it. brings back to the fathers of the boys reminiscences of their own sporting days, when they too were filled with great ambitions to excel in these delights. At the conclusion of the sports the prizes wero presented by Lady Ward, and hearty cheers were given for her by tho boys, also for Mr. Firth for so kindly lending tho ground, and for tho gentlemen who acted as judges, starter, and timekeeper, and helped to make the sports a success. Pearce, Mrs. Field, Mrs. Janiieson (Hawko's Bay), Mr. and Mrs. Stott and the Misses Stott (2), Mr. and Mrs. A. Warburton, Sir Wil-' liam and Lady . Steward, Mrs. Broom, Mr. and Mrs. Firth, Dr. and Mrs. Holmes, Dr. and Mrs. Young, Mr. and Mrs. A. Young, Mr. and Mrs. IC. Duncan, Mrs. Lan Duncan, Miss Duncan, Miss' Tolhurst, Mr', and Mrs. Rutherford, Mr., and Mrs. W. Blundell, Mr. and Mrs. Tringham, and many others.
