FROZEN MEAT IN LONDON.
REPLY TO DR. CHAPPLE'S CHARGES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. London, November 4. ■ Tho Incorporated Society of Meat Importers has received replies from shipowners and storekeepers refuting the allegations made in Australia and New Zealand by Dr. Chappie, M.P. for Stirlingshire, regarding tho handling of colonial moat in Britain. The society has resolved to send to the Australian and New Zealand newspapers copies of the replies, with photographs showing the actual conditions governing the unloading of meat at the ports. Interviewed in Sydney early in OctoTjor, Dr. Chappie stated that the treatment of colonial meat in London was scandalous. It came in contact with much dirt in tho course of handling. The system of rebate for damaged meat was 'profitable to tho buyer, and dealers who trafficked only in damaged carcasses looked prosperous. There was much fraud in connection with colonial meat.
