: «, SPORT WITH THE RIFLE. HATCHES AT TRENTHAM. Fine weather favoured the week-end rifle competitions at Trentham and elsewhere on Saturday afternoon. The wind at Trentham was fairly reliable for Trentham, the allowance required being not more than from about five to eight degrees at GOO yards. As will be. noted in the appended results, high scoring was not uncommon, nearly every company furnishing its quota of big aggregates, while in the Karori Rifle Club there was -quite a respectable list of them. SUBURBS RIFLE CLUB. At Miratnar on Saturday the members of the Suburbs Rifle Club continued their trophy shooting, the ranges being 500 and 600 yards, 10 shots at each range. Tho weather wmditions were not to the liking of. competitors, the wind varying from seven degrees left to two right, ,'lhc elevation, which seems, the; hardest nut for competitors to crack, ' was on its worst behaviour on ■Saturday, many members cracking up at 600 yards;. The Wednesday shooting will be continued next week as usual, \at ranges"' 500 and 600 yards, ten shots attach. Honorary members of the club will be allowed to compete in all trophy shooting, .with the exception of the 'senior and
junior aggregate and the Newton dial- • lenge Cup. The conditions for this cud are as follows :-The highest scorer on Saturday or Wednesday (the same competition for both days) is to receive 5 Points; second place man, I points; and tho third place, 3 points. The highest aggregate scorer will have his name inscribed on the cup, which he will hold tor one year. The ranges for next Sat- : urday are 200, 500, and COO yards; seven - shots.
