After heavy, continuous rain, sunshine favoured the closing day of tho Victoria Racing Club's meeting, and a very large crowd again attended. . The racing was good, tho contest' for tho C. B. Fisher Plato being most exciting. Alawa scored bis third consecutive victory in tho event, and his win was applauded. Tho field in the Steeplechase was tho biggest' sinco 1875. The race looked like ending in a struggle between Apple Pie and Flavian, when 'Apple Pie died away. Flavian was challenged by Matouree, who won by a length, with a head between second and third. Son of the Marsh had a lead of several lengths until entering the straight, Alawa and Trafalgar, having been alternately in second and third places. The three raced neck and neck along tho straight. Son of the Marsh was first to givo way, and fell before tho ■hallengo of Trafalgar, who, in turn, was challenged by Alawa.
