THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT.
Sir, —One or two ' words : .aoout the.!way the present Government manages '■■ .the business of the country, and the. bad legislation they try. to "bring ' down. Look-at. the Land.' ; Bill.; How. could any. fair-minded Government pass legislation the way the Waid Government "would have"had it pass''if lit had not been for ...the amendments the'..'.'''Lands Committee made. Goodness only knows what would have,,been the ' re■sult. Why, even, as the Bill is now, it'is enough to drive capital outiof the country,'instead of.drawing it into the oountry, which it.-is.'liadly.iin need of at present. The Defence Bill ,'js'-, enough to.,show Uie.'bacijTdown the Ward Administration; anaS.now Sir Joseph' and the majority of-ina 7, faithful followers aro not satisfied with the previous back-downs. -. They are 'going still further with-the charges Mr.'.Hine has made. : I am glad to see that soruo of the members had courage enough not to turnaround and vote lirst decision'. -On looking into this session still further, I think it is, tirne'.i.the peoplo of the Dominion woke up:to the. situation, and put men in Parliament who would look.after tho interests of the.people. If things are to go', on as at the present, I would like to' know what tho Dominion will be coming to. It will bo a nice thing if the next session of Parliament, and the general election are to be altered fib' 'allow Sir Joseph' and a' few of. his"-faithful.', followers to go' Home' to 'therCoronation, and spent a few thousand pounds, which the- country : >cannot, afford,"• and/ for which it. will receive. , Now, if Sir" Joseph went' * Home," and, say, eight officers of the Defence Department of this Dominion went with- him,- as they want to do, and even at their own expense,, tho. country, would bo sufflbusiness of tho country iced not '"stop; for on© minute;/ ''..There of Sir Joseph's take his place',;and lead.tho':House as woll as ho could,;.and;',p'eThaps,^ : in(.n6t such ..a •back-down manner as .WG-have seen this session. ;HopinE.the:.pepplo of this Dominion will. tako .jibtice' bfatke -present GovernraentV policy/ 1 and know what'to do next election,—l am, etc., 'V'O''' "',. /WEST COASTER. .Dennistonj,'October 30. .'.(
