RIOTS IN CHICAGO. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. . Now York, November 3. Sixty armed policemen charged thousands of garment-workers, who are on strike in Chicago. There has been a good deal of rioting. A mob attacked a factory, and in the ensuing disturbances a policeman was stabbed and iifteen rioters seriously wounded. • A score of arrests were made, those arrested including women. Sewing machines wore dragged .from the factory into the street and smashed. (Rec. November 4, 11.45 p.m.) New York, November 4. The Chicago garment workers' striko is likely to extend to other cities. Some of the women strikers have been arrested for picketing. There were slight disturbances, but . these have been quelled.

TO ESCAPE STARVATION. Sydney, November 4. The mattress-makers, at Rutherford's factory at Newcastle, who have been on strike for four weeks, havo resumed work in order to escape starvation. Meetings have been held in Hull, Hartlepool, and Glasgow, and the boilermakers, by a large majority, hav6 resolved to reject the amended agreement with the employers on the ground that it does not diffor materially from that on which they previously balloted.
