A BLOW TO THE LIBERALS.

In on election for tiio Dominion Parliament, Mr. Gilbert (Nationalist) defeated Mr. Perrault (Liberal) for. tlm Arthabaska district of Quebec. This is a blow to Sir AV. Lauricr. Tho campaign issue was whether there should bo a Canadian navy. Tho FrenchCanadians opposed tho navy. ' Sir W. Lanrier carried out a strenuous campaign, realising the growing power of the Nationalists in French Canada. The general opinion is that , the outlook is bad for Sir W. Lauricr in' tho Quebec provinco.
